For the tourism subsector to grow and contribute effectively to the economy, the public and private sectors were charged to collaborate.

Hon. Mohammed Muktar (Zannan Kauzarue), the Chairman, House of Representatives on Tourism made this call at the 2026 National Hospitality and Tourism Stakeholders Forum, with the theme: Shaping the Future of Nigeria Tourism Together.

The Kazaure Zannan highlighted the sector’s potential as a driver of economic growth, cultural exchange, and national unity, noting that tourism remains a vital pillar in Nigeria’s quest for economic diversification.

The forum aims to strengthen and reposition the industry, with stakeholders discussing strategies to improve infrastructure, enhance security, encourage investment, and promote innovation and capacity development.

He urged stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue, share insights, and build strategic partnerships to address existing challenges and unlock new opportunities.

The House of Reps Chairman on Tourism reaffirmed the National Assembly’s commitment to supporting policies and initiatives that foster an enabling environment for sustainable growth in the sector.

He emphasized that the future of tourism in Nigeria is bright, and with the right strategies and commitment, the nation can become a leading destination in Africa and beyond.

The forum is expected to bring together key actors across the value chain, including industry leaders, policymakers, and development partners.

Nigeria’s tourism sector is predicted to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10% through 2026, driven by the country’s youthful population and increasing tourist numbers.

The country’s rich cultural heritage, vibrant cities, and world-class natural attractions make it an attractive destination for tourists and there is the need for all the hands to be on deck toward this direction.
