REMEMBERING THE YELWATA MASSACRE: A YEAR OF UNHEALED WOUNDS

Exactly one year ago, the peaceful community of Yelwata in Guma Local Government Area was turned into a killing field. Over 200 innocent souls fathers, mothers, and helpless children were brutally massacred in an unprovoked attack that shook Benue State to its core. Homes were reduced to ashes, livelihoods were wiped out, and thousands were forced into the indignity of IDP camps, where they remain displaced, forgotten, and traumatized to this day.

Today, we bow our heads in deep sympathy. We remember the lives cut short, the mass graves that scarred our land, and the families left to pick up the pieces of their broken lives. May the Almighty grant eternal rest to the departed, comfort the grieving, and restore peace to the land of Yelwata.
But as we mourn, we must also confront the bitter truth: the blood of our people continues to cry out because those sworn to protect them have failed.

3 Billion Naira Monthly, Zero Security: The Failure of the Alia Government
The tragic anniversary of the Yelwata massacre serves as a painful reminder of the current administration’s complete failure to secure Benue State. While the people of Yelwata and other vulnerable communities across the state are left entirely at the mercy of armed invaders, Governor Hyacinth Alia continues to pocket an unprecedented, staggering security vote of over 3 billion Naira every single month.

Where is this money going? It is certainly not being used to secure Benue:

Starving the Security Apparatus: While the Governor draws billions in cash, his own security aides and local vigilantes lack the basic logistics, communication tools, and operational support needed to intercept attackers.

Complete Inaccessibility: When security matters arise, top advisors and security chiefs wait for months just to get an audience with the Governor. Security requires real-time action, not a leader locked away in luxury.

The Irony of the “Shepherd: For a leader who emerged from the church, the lack of empathy is baffling. While billions are pocketed under the guise of security, rural Benue is left exposed, undefended, and abandoned to a violent loop of attacks.

You cannot secure a state by hoarding resources at the top while the frontline communities are bleeding. The current administration has proven that it treats security as a financial benefit rather than a sacred duty. Benue cannot survive another term of empty rhetoric paid for with the lives of its citizens.

The Solution for 2027: Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN A fortress of Security

To end the tears of Yelwata and secure the borders of Benue State, we need a leader who does not hide behind excuses or pocket billions while the state burns. We need a man of action, structural competence, and deep national influence. Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, is the leader Benue needs in 2027 to restore total security.

1. Accountable and Fully Funded Security Infrastructure
Unlike the current system where billions vanish into private pockets, Aondoakaa will channel the state’s security resources directly to where they matter. He will fully fund, equip, and motivate local vigilantes, the Benue State Volunteer Guard, and federal security agencies. Every entry point into Benue, especially border communities like Yelwata, will be fortified with modern surveillance and rapid-response infrastructure.

2. Deep National Influence and Strategic Collaboration
Security in the Middle Belt requires a leader who can command respect and immediate action at the highest levels of the federal government. As a former Attorney General of the Federation, Michael Kaase Aondoakaa has the established network, legal intellect, and national clout to collaborate effectively with the presidency and military high command. Under his watch, Benue will no longer be treated as an afterthought; the full weight of federal security assets will be deployed to protect our farmers.

3. Immediate Response and Proactive Intel-Driven Governance
Aondoakaa operates an open door policy. As governor, his security chiefs, traditional rulers, and community leaders will have direct, 24/7 access to him. By prioritizing intelligence driven governance, security forces will act before the attackers strike, moving Benue from a state that merely buries its dead to a state that aggressively protects its living.
Never again should a tragedy like the Yelwata massacre happen while the government stands idle. For a secure, fearless, and well-defended Benue State, Michael Kaase Aondoakaa is the definitive choice for 2027.
