August 15, 2026, history was written in our community. The official unveiling of the statue of a great figure in Tiv Nation, Zaki Biam Ala took place a moment that will never be forgotten for generations.
It was more than the pulling of a cloth from bronze. It was the honoring of a life that shaped the Tiv Nation. Zaki Biam Ala was not just a name in our land, He was a pillar. A man remembered for his wisdom, his generosity, and the way he held people together in times of both joy and hardship.
To us the Tiv people, he was the root. To our neighbors, he was a father figure whose counsel crossed compound walls and village boundaries. Standing there, watching his statue unveiled for all to see, I felt the weight of that legacy. Children who never met him now have a face to attach to the stories. Elders nodded in recognition, because of the values he left behind.
This day did not happen by chance. It is the result of years of planning, unity, and support from family members near and far, and from neighbors who insisted that such a life deserves to be remembered publicly. It is history for the Tiv Nation, and it is history for everyone around the Tiv Nation.
As the statue now stands tall, it will do what Baba Biam Ala did in life: watch over the community, remind the family where they came from, and call us to be better. May his example continue to guide us.
Rest in Peace Baba Zaki Biam Ala.
