The Federal Government (FG) has taken a significant step towards transforming the country’s automotive sector with the inauguration of the Governing Board of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), and appointment of Emma Eneukwu as its Chairman.
According to ampress statement from Dr Adebayo Thomas Director Press and Public Relations Federal Ministry of Industry Trade and Investment (FMITI), the he ceremony, held on Wednesday marks a bold commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s automotive industry under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The inauguration is part of the government’s efforts to drive local content, green vehicles, and strategic investments in the automotive sector.
The council is tasked with developing local capacity, driving innovation, and creating an enabling environment for sustainable automotive industry growth.
The NADDC has been working on implementing the National Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP) 2023-2033, a comprehensive blueprint aimed at revitalizing Nigeria’s automotive sector and building a competitive, sustainable manufacturing environment.
Senator John Owan Enoh, Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, emphasized the significance of the inauguration, stating that it underscores the government’s determination to strengthen Nigeria’s automotive industry.
He highlighted the importance of appointing a technically proficient and highly professional board to drive the industry’s growth.
However, the NADDC’s strategic initiatives aim to stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and attract foreign direct investment.
– The council has been working on various projects, including the development of automotive training centers, infrastructure development, and promoting local manufacturing.
