The Osun State Polytechnic NAPAS Alumni Association Concludes 4th AGM/Reunion in Abuja

The Osun State Polytechnic NAPAS Alumni Association, comprising graduates of the Accounting Department, Class of 2006, recently concluded its 4th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Reunion in Abuja.

The event, themed “Retirement Life Sustainability: Importance of Early Preparation,” brought together members from various chapters, including Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, and Diaspora.

The reunion commenced with a sightseeing tour of notable landmarks in the Federal Capital Territory on September 26, followed by a welcome party hosted by the Abuja chapter.

The AGM featured a welcome address by Adebayo Araoye FCA, who emphasized the importance of accountability and transparency in the association’s stewardship.

In her presidential address, Mrs. Moturayo Afolayan, ACA highlighted the spirit of unity, humanity, and generosity among members, which has enabled the association to give back to their alma mater and support its members.

The General Secretary, Tesleem Oyebamiji, ACA provided a detailed account of the association’s activities and achievements and reiterated future plans, including the creation of a website to showcase programmes and initiatives, integrating payment systems, and restructuring the reunion programme to a biennial event.

A notable lecture on “Retirement Life Sustainability: Importance of Early Preparation” was delivered by Dr. Olufemi Olusola, Assistant Director of Audit, Office of the Auditor General of the Federation.

 

Additionally, experts and association members, Mrs. Moturayo Olaitan Olagunju and Mr. Paul Akin Odebumi, both Assistant Directors at the Office of Federal Inland Revenue Service, shared their experiences and expressed optimism about tax reforms, specifically tax planning arrangements and voluntary compliance with tax laws to minimize tax liabilities.

Tesleem Oyebamiji, ACA, admonished members to comply with the new tax laws, utilizing and taking the best advantages of the laws rather than willfully evading them.

The tax reform discussion was moderated by Dr. Adefisoye Adekunle, PhD, FCA, who is also a member of the Alumni Association.

The association achieved several notable milestones, including:
– *Procurement of Desktop Computers*: For Osun State Polytechnic, Iree
– *Monthly Webinars*: On thought-provoking topics
– *Symposium Programme*: Featuring a keynote address by Professor Oyedokun Godwin on “Harnessing Artificial Intelligence, the Future of Accounting and Financial Reporting”

The Annual General Meeting also:
– *Ratified Annual Report and Audited Financial Statements*
– *Reappointed External Auditor*: Messrs Femi Ogunsanya and Co
– *Approved Amended Constitution*

The empowerment programme, chaired by Mr. Akinsola Olubusola Victor, provided cash support to six alumni members who submitted business proposals. The Gala/Award Night was a grand finale to the reunion, with awards given to outstanding members and chapters.

The Chairman of the National Working Committee, Mr. Olumide Olayinka, and the Abuja Chapter’s Chairman, Mr. Ajiteru Abolore, and their teams were applauded for organizing a historic, nostalgic, and long-lasting reunion event.

The programme was brought to a close by the Lagos State Chapter Chairman, Mr Adegboye Adewale who also doubled as the anchor of the 2025 Abuja Reunion/AGM event.

He commended the members’ contributions and unwavering commitment, wishing them safe travels to their various destinations.

The Osun State Polytechnic NAPAS Alumni Association looks forward to onboarding other sets and continuing to inspire the next generation through collective efforts, promoting unity, humanity, and generosity among its members while giving back to their alma mater and supporting its members.
