The Anambra State Town’s People Association (ASTPA) recently hosted a spectacular biennial Anambra Day Celebration at the Moshood Abiola International Stadium in Abuja, leaving attendees in awe of the rich cultural heritage and unity displayed. Under the leadership of President General, Sir Arinze Anadu (Nwachinemelu), the event was a resounding success, drawing in largest numbers of Anambra indigenes and non-indigenes alike.
This 2025 edition themed “Onulu Ube Nwanne Agbanaoso,” translated into English, “Thou Shalt Not Abandon Your Brother at the Time of Trouble,” the 2025 edition of the Anambra Day celebration promoted peace, unity, and love among Anambra indigenes.
The event featured a grand cultural display, with participating town unions showcasing their unique traditions, dances, songs, and masquerades. The competitions, which included early attendance, comportment, cultural and native attire, native dishes, and more, were keenly contested, with town unions vying for supremacy.
The success of the event is a testament to the exceptional leadership and commitment of Sir Arinze Anadu (Nwachinemelu).

The Moshood Abiola International Stadium was packed to capacity, with prominent individuals, including the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, the “Ife Mbaukwu,” meaning, the Light of Mbaukwu” representing Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, in attendance.
The event was marked by the breaking and blessing of cola nuts and the sharing of drinks and food, in line with Igbo custom and traditions. Palm wine was also used, adding to the cultural flavor of the occasion.
The atmosphere was electric, with attendees enthralled by the vibrant displays and performances.
The Anambra Day Celebration has set a high standard for cultural events in the nation’s capital. Non-Anambra communities and indigenes in attendance were impressed by the display of unity and cultural heritage, with many expressing admiration for the ASTPA’s commitment to promoting peace and love among its members.
