It was an evening of joy on Sunday, 19th October, 2025 when Hon. John Moughsha, a former Chairman of Ushongo local government area, hosted the Benue State Commissioner for Marine and Blue Economy, Hon. Denis Ter Iyaghigba, at his residence in Makurdi.

The meeting, described as a “homecoming of purpose,” brought together political associates, family members, and close allies of both leaders.

According to the linkman, Hon. Cyrus Terhemen Atii, the visit was initiated by Hon. Moosha, who wished to personally identify with the Commissioner and appreciate his commitment to public service under the administration of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia.

In his welcome remarks, Hon. Moughsha expressed profound appreciation to the Commissioner for honoring the invitation, noting that such gestures help to strengthen unity and mutual understanding among leaders from Ushongo Local Government Area.

He described Governor Alia as a result-oriented leader whose vision is transforming Benue State across various sectors including the marine and blue economy.

He further charged the Commissioner to maintain a balance among three key interests — his personal integrity, uncompromising support to Governor Alia, and commitment to the development of their homeland in Ushongo.

Hon. Moughsha also urged Mrs. Maureen Iyaghigba, the spouse of the Commissioner, to contribute meaningfully and genuinely towards the success of the present administration, emphasizing the collective responsibility of all appointees in driving the governor’s agenda.

The host equally called on staff members of the ministry to support their principal with patriotism, diligence, and loyalty, stressing that teamwork remains the foundation for lasting achievements.

In his response, Hon. Denis Ter Iyaghigba expressed deep gratitude to Hon. Moughsha for the warm reception and described the visit as a mark of family bonding and shared purpose.

He pledged to continue consulting the elder statesman for guidance, adding that he hopes to draw from his wealth of wisdom and leadership experience.

The Commissioner also reaffirmed his commitment to promoting Governor Alia’s developmental vision, while projecting the industrious and capable spirit for which the Ushongo people are known for.

The evening ended with a renewed call for unity, collaboration, and words of prayers in support for the Alia administration.
