The Member representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency, Hon. Joshua Chinedu Obika, has commended the Igbo community in Abuja for their unity and contributions to the economic development of the Federal Capital Territory and Nigeria.
He made this commendation during the Iriji (New Yam) Cultural Festival, a celebration of the rich heritage of the Ndigbo community.
Hon. Obika highlighted the significance of the Iriji festival, stating that it’s an ancient cultural heritage where the community gives thanks for a bountiful harvest and the blessings of their farm produce, especially yams.
He emphasized that the festival promotes unity, resilience, and gratitude, resonating with the shared human experience.
The lawmaker concluded with a message of national unity, praying for the blessings of the Igbo tradition and all traditions that contribute positively to Nigeria’s rich cultural tapestry and socio-cultural benefits.
He emphasized the importance of cultural pride and intercultural harmony within the nation’s capital.
The event showcased the community’s cultural identity, featuring traditional dances, music, and feasting. It provided a platform for community members to come together, share ideas, and strengthen social bonds.
Hon. Obika’s presence underscored his commitment to supporting cultural initiatives and promoting unity among diverse groups in the FCT.
