SAOBA set to Honour Benue Commissioner for Marine and Blue Economy, Denis Iyaghigba

The St. Andrews Adikpo Old Boys Association (SAOBA) is set to honour the Benue State Commissioner for Marine and Blue Economy, Hon. Denis Ter Iyaghigba, in recognition of his exceptional leadership and contributions to public service

This was disclosed in a letter jointly signed by the National President of SAOBA, Hon. Kwaghsor Philip, and the National Secretary, Mr. Upev Vincent.

According to a statement signed by the Head of Media, Publicity and Orientation to the Commissioner, Mr. Lubem Gena, the award ceremony is scheduled to hold tomorrow, Friday, October 31, 2025, in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

The association noted that Hon. Iyaghigba’s nomination was inspired by his outstanding achievements and his recent appointment as Commissioner for Marine and Blue Economy under the administration of His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, Governor of Benue State.

The association appreciated the Governor for finding one of their own members worthy to form part of the Executive Council of the state.

“This award comes in recognition of your outstanding accomplishments and leadership, especially your recent appointment as Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, Benue State, under the distinguished administration of His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the Governor of Benue State,” the letter stated.

SAOBA, the alumni body of the prestigious St. Andrews Secondary School, Adikpo, described Hon. Iyaghigba as a shining example of excellence and integrity, whose achievements continue to inspire both alumni and students of the institution.

“Your recognition by the present government stands as a testament to your competence, diligence, and commitment to public service. As one of our proud old boys, SAOBA finds it most fitting to celebrate your achievements, not only because they bring honour to our alma mata but also because they inspire the younger generation to pursue excellence, integrity, and service to humanity,” the letter further read.

The event is expected to attract members of the association from across the country, government officials, and dignitaries from various sectors.

Hon. Iyaghigba is a respected technocrat in marine transportation, logistics, oil and gas and business administrator of note.

His forthcoming recognition by SAOBA underscores his continued influence as a role model and leader committed to the advancement of society through visionary public service.
