APGA’s candidate vows to move AMAC forward, calls for peaceful campaign

By Abba -Eku Onyeka, Abuja

Honourable Onyebuchukwu Chukwu, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has expressed confidence that he will win the upcoming election “by the grace of God” and steer the council toward progress.

In a brief interview, Chukwu stated, “I am out to contest an election and win by the grace of God, and move the area council and its residents and indigenes forward.” He emphasized that his running mate is “a man of good character among the indigenes of the FCT,” highlighting the importance of local representation in his campaign.

Chukwu noted widespread support from AMAC residents, saying, “My happiness is that I have the support of all the AMAC people.” He added that “all the contestants have a cordial relationship and no one is talking about stepping down for the other,” underscoring a commitment to peaceful competition.

The candidate warned against “politics of antagonism,” urging rivals to avoid hostile tactics. “I don’t believe in politics of antagonism and should anyone have that in mind, let such person desist from that, as it will neither do good to no one, nor to the area council,” he said.

Chukwu advised voters to “study the candidates and his antecedents before casting his/her vote,” encouraging informed decision‑making. He concluded with a call for divine guidance, stating, “Let us put God first in everything we are doing, which if done will be a guide for us.”
