A veteran journalist Abbanobi -Eku Onyeka, based in Abuja’s sister has passed away, according to a press statement he signed and made available to journalists in Abuja within the week.
Mrs Kate Onoh, nee Abbanobi -Eku, who died on August 12, 2025 at the age of 55, was born in 1970 in Akwuoba Village, Ogbunka Community, and married into the Onoh family of Umuchukwu, all in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
As a dedicated Catholic, Kate was a woman leader and a politician, known for her tireless efforts in promoting education and social welfare in her community.
Her brother, Abbanobi-Eku Onyeka, remembers her as a kind and compassionate sister who always put others before herself.
Kate’s legacy extends beyond her family, as she touched the lives of many through her community service and educational initiatives.
Her funeral ceremony will begin on January 12th, 2026, at her father’s home in Akwuoba Ogbunka and her husband’s home in Umuchukwu, both in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
She is survived by among others, her brother, sister, son, sisters-in-law, grandchildren, and daughter-in-law, who mourn her passing and celebrate her life.
The Abbanobi-Eku and Onoh families invite friends, family, and well-wishers to join them in celebrating Kate’s life and legacy.
Kate’s commitment to community service and education will be deeply missed, but her impact will continue to inspire and motivate those who knew her.
