The Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) has launched Nitourey, Africa’s first dedicated tourism streaming hub, aimed at showcasing Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and tourism potential to a global audience.
The launch was announced at a press conference held in Abuja, where the Honourable Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa, emphasized the importance of the platform in repositioning Nigeria as a leading global destination for tourism, culture, and creative excellence.
Musawa stated that Nitourey is a bold and forward-thinking digital initiative that aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration, particularly in harnessing the power of the digital economy to amplify Nigeria’s rich cultural narratives.
She noted that Nigeria is abundantly blessed with an unparalleled diversity of culture, heritage, landscapes, and creative expressions, but many of these assets have remained underutilized on the global stage.
Earlier in an opening address, the Director General of NTDA, Ola’ Awakan, explained that Nitourey is a strategic response to the need for Nigeria to tell its own story, in its own voice, using platforms that resonate globally.
The platform will leverage digital technology, film, and multimedia storytelling to project Nigeria’s diverse cultural assets and tourism destinations to both domestic and international audiences.
Nitourey will showcase Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, highlighting the unique cultural and tourism attractions of each region.
The platform will feature compelling multimedia content, including films, documentaries, and stories that showcase the country’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty.
The launch of Nitourey is expected to boost Nigeria’s tourism industry, creating jobs and generating revenue for the economy.
The platform will also promote cultural exchange and understanding, showcasing Nigeria’s diversity and hospitality to the world.
