Meet Alhaji Tanimu Ali Ibrahim (Haliru), Deputy Gubernatorial Candidate to Professor Jerome Nyameh of the Accord Party.
Alhaji Tanimu Ali Ibrahim (Haliru) is a respected administrator, seasoned public servant, grassroots politician, and community leader from Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State. He is of Kuteb ethnic origin and a devoted Muslim whose life has been marked by dedication to public service, leadership, and community development.
Born a prince, Alhaji Tanimu is the son of the late Ukwe Takum, HRH Alhaji Ali Ibrahim Zorto Kufang II.
Alhaji Tanimu began his education at Takum Dutse Primary School, where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. He later attended Government College, Jalingo, and earned his Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
Driven by a passion for knowledge and professional development, he obtained a Diploma in Local Government Studies from Kaduna State Polytechnic. He further earned a Diploma in Business Administration and Management from Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo. In pursuit of higher education, he attended the Federal University of Technology, Yola, now Modibbo Adama University, Yola, where he earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Accounting.
Alhaji Tanimu built a distinguished career in the Local Government Service, serving in various capacities across Taraba State. His commitment, integrity, and leadership earned him positions of trust.
He served as Acting Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Lau Local Government Chapter, for one year. During his tenure, he brought stability, improved staff relations, and enhanced administrative effectiveness.
His performance led to his election as Chairman of NULGE, Takum Local Government Chapter, where he served for three years, demonstrating exceptional leadership, advocacy, and commitment to workers’ welfare.
Subsequently, he was elected State Auditor of NULGE, further affirming the confidence reposed in him by colleagues across the state.
Alhaji Tanimu retired from the Local Government Service as Director of Budget and Planning, a role that reflected his expertise in financial management, budgeting, strategic planning, and public administration. Throughout his career, he served in several local governments, gaining extensive knowledge of grassroots governance and public sector management.
Alhaji Tanimu has attended numerous workshops, seminars, and professional training programmes within and outside Taraba State. Notably, he participated in the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) Workshop in Bauchi State, alongside other capacity-building programmes focused on governance, accountability, and financial management.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Alhaji Tanimu is a grassroots politician with deep connections to the people. His understanding of local government administration, community needs, and grassroots mobilization has made him a respected figure.
He has worked across various local governments in the state and understands the third tier of government, the level closest to the people. He is a dynamic leader with high moral standards.
