Labour Party (LP) candidate for Orumba North and South Federal Constituency, Prince Chibuike Echem, Okenwa Ogbunka, on Friday unveiled his agenda and appointed Hon. Ikenna Nwankwor as Director General (DG) of his campaign organization.
Addressing the press in Abuja, Echem said: “We are bringing to Ndi Orumba the Orumba Rebate Project. The Rebate Project cuts across the two local governments.”
He said the project is anchored on “proper representation and accountability” for the people of Orumba North and Orumba South.
“We are hoping that our people will find our candidacy acceptable and willing to support the realization of it. Our promise is that we will not disappoint them,” he added.
Echem described Nwankwor as “a seasoned politician, a one-time councilor, a one-time secretary of the local government, currently the President General of Orumba North and South communities in Abuja.”
“He has been there, done that in politics, and that is why he is rightfully suited for this position,” Echem said.
He disclosed that the DG’s immediate task is to constitute a campaign council comprising “seasoned, experienced, notable people who are on ground.”
The council, he said, will represent the interests of both local governments and drive the campaign across the federal constituency.
Reflecting on his background, Echem recalled contesting for National Youth Council President in Gombe and later serving 8 years as Vice President, National Council of Nigeria, Southeast.
During that tenure, he said, the Southeast got its first Youth Council secretariat in New Haven, Enugu, “where commissioners of states were having meetings with me.”
He also mentioned his 2023 bid for Anambra State House of Assembly, saying the experience has prepared him for federal representation.
With the campaign structure now taking shape, Echem said the focus will be on delivering results and ensuring that Orumba benefits directly from federal presence.
