BENUE STATE GOVERNMENT STERNLY WARNS AGAINST DESTRUCTION OF PUBLIC UTILITIES AND BILLBOARDS; VOWS TO PROSECUTE OFFENDERS TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW

Monday, 14th September 2026

The Benue State Government wishes to inform the general public that it has commenced the arrest and prosecution of individuals and groups involved in the wanton destruction of public utilities and billboards across the State.

This reckless and criminal conduct, which has resulted in the loss of valuable public and private investments, will no longer be tolerated under any guise whatsoever.

The Government wishes to state, in the clearest terms, that anyone found culpable of vandalizing, defacing, or destroying public utilities, billboards, or any other state or private infrastructure will be made to face the full weight of the law. There will be no sacred cows, and no amount of political, social, or personal affiliation will shield any offender from prosecution.

Security agencies have been directed to intensify surveillance and to apprehend, without delay, any person or group caught in the act of perpetrating these dastardly acts. Several suspects have already been arrested and are currently in police custody, and will be arraigned in court shortly to answer for their actions.

The Government therefore serves this final and unequivocal warning to those with such destructive tendencies to desist immediately. The Benue State government will not fold its arms while public and private property is destroyed by irresponsible elements. Anyone caught, henceforth, will be dealt with decisively and squarely, in accordance with the law.

Members of the public are also enjoined to report any person seen engaging in such acts of vandalism to the nearest security agency, as protecting public infrastructure is a collective responsibility.

The Benue State Government remains resolute in its commitment to protecting lives, property, and public infrastructure across the State.

Hon. Chief Solomon Iorpev

Hon. Commissioner, Information and Orientation, Benue State
